Working on the overall sound and textures that will make up SDTS5: I usually work in songwriting bursts where I take a lot of the influences and ideas that I have been building up and then demo group of tracks in a short amount of time. It’s usually one of these bursts that will sets in motion the overall direction that the record will gravitate towards. For SDTS5 some of these bursts have brought forward new sounds. We have a group of very “posi” sounding songs, a group of “experimental” songs, and then a group of “core” Stare Down the Sun classic style songs. As I listen to these demos I will start to look for "holes" in the potential album collection and then I will start “target writing”. So far the songwriting for SDTS5 is strong and we are looking forward to putting a little more attention on lyrical subject matter and stretching out the sonic pallet a little wider.
